Some months back we posted about the Enneagram types. This is a continuation of that theme! And it is a fun continuation because we are talking about gifts. Knowing the Enneagram type of the people in your life can tell you a lot about them and this blog post is just one of many examples of that.
Enneagram One: Reformer
Meaningful gifts show their love but they have a hard time receiving gifts. This could be for a variety of reasons! Just like some people feel awkward receiving compliments, the Reformer feels uncomfortable receiving gifts. Even if it’s something they love! However, because they love giving meaningful gifts, try finding something meaningful and sentimental for them.
Enneagram Two: Helper
The Helper loves picking out the perfect gift but when it comes time to receive they don’t know what they want. It can be like pulling teeth to get an idea of what to get for them! They never have a wishlist. But just consider their likes and needs and you should be able to find the right thing for them.
Enneagram Three: Achiever
The Achiever loves receiving gifts but has a hard time knowing what to get others. They will never turn down a gift, any time. However they never really know what to gift to other people. Not because they don’t care but because it can be difficult for them to pinpoint the right thing.
Enneagram Four: Individualist
Exchanging gifts that are unique and make people feel appreciated is the most important thing to those who fall under the Individualist group in the Enneagram. They spend a lot of time picking out gifts to make sure that they are getting something that person will love and cherish.
Enneagram Five: Investigator
The Investigators know exactly what they want. They have the perfect idea of what they want to receive and usually will give you their wishlist! If not that, they want cash so they can go and pick something out for themselves. And they often gift cash so people can pick out their perfect gifts for the same reason.
Enneagram Six: Loyalist
Can take or leave both gifts for themselves and others. Loyalists do not care much about gifts in any real way. This can make it hard to buy gifts for them but it can also take some of the pressure off as well.
Enneagram Seven: Enthusiast
This individual finds shopping stressful but loves shared experiences. They are the one you want to take to the theatre or out for dinner. Something like watching a movie, going to the zoo, or a museum! Anything where they can spend time with you is going to be the perfect gift for them to receive and give.
Enneagram Eight: Challenger
For this Enneagram type, they love giving gifts more than receiving them. They also really appreciate gifts that show you respect them. This means taking the time to really consider what this type of person really loves! They would rather receive nothing than a poorly thought out gift. Especially because their real joy comes from gift giving and not receiving.
Enneagram Nine: Peacemaker
These individuals really worry about buying the right gift. They spend a lot of time picking out gifts and usually are still worried they’re not a good fit! And they will pretend to like what they receive, even if it’s something they would never use or get for themselves. Making others comfortable and happy is of paramount importance to this Enneagram type.
