The Enneagram and Career Paths

The Enneagram and Career Paths

We’ve been on a roll lately with our posts about the Enneagram. We’ve been having fun with writing them and we hope you’ve enjoyed them! For this reason, we here at Compassionate Consulting Company thought you may want to read about the Enneagram and career paths. Sometimes it can be fun to see what other people who have similar personalities to us do for a career. Thus, using the Enneagram is a good way to not only see what other people like you tend to gravitate towards but also get some ideas for yourself.

If you’ve been undecided on how you want to plan out the rest of your life career-wise, maybe these Enneagram based suggestions will help!

Enneagram One: Reformer

The Reformer (or Perfectionist) wants to help other people be the best that they can be. Above all, they want to make positive changes in the world. Therefore, they’re likely to gravitate towards careers that allow them to feel as if they’re contributing something to the world around them.

Enneagram Two: Helper

Helpers are concerned with the needs of others. When given a choice, they want to make sure that people are taken care of and have what they need to succeed as people. This means that what 2’s are most likely to want to do is to be in some sort of helping role.

Social worker: Directly helping those in need.

Nurse or healthcare provider: Caring for others’ well-being.

Human resources: Fostering a supportive workplace environment.

Enneagram Three: Achiever

Three’s have high standards and they have things that they’re always working towards. A job that encourages them to have constant goals to strive towards is a perfect match for them. Consequently, it can be especially rewarding if they help others achieve their own high standards.

Sales professional: Driver by goals and achievements.

Marketing manager: Creating strategies to promote products.

Executive coach: Helping others to reach their potential.

Enneagram Four: Individualist

When it comes to all things emotional and creative, Individualists are always trying to express themselves. Subsequently, this means that they’re at their best when they’re allowed to pour as much of themselves as possible into this pursuit. Creative careers are the best match for them.

Artist or designer: Expressing creativity through various mediums.

Writer or poet: Using words to convey deep emotions and ideas.

Art therapist: helping others through creative expression.

Enneagram Five: Investigator

The Investigator has a lot of natural curiosity about the world. They have a lot of questions that they want answers to. This means that jobs that keep them learning are the best match for them. They should go into careers that allow them to learn and apply that learning to what they do everyday.

Research scientist – Exploring new knowledge and innovations.

Data analyst – Analyzing complex information.

Technical writer: Creating clear documentation for complex topics.

Because of this, they’re well matched to careers that allow them to do that on a regular basis.

Event planner: Creating exciting and engaging experiences.
